{"id":83,"date":"2025-09-22T10:17:53","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T10:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/truththatfrees.com\/?p=83"},"modified":"2025-09-22T11:04:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T11:04:57","slug":"truth-matters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/truththatfrees.com\/?p=83","title":{"rendered":"Truth Matters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>THE TRUTH MATTERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John 14:6<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Jesus answered, \u201cI am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me<\/em>. (NIV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was the epitome of respectability, but despite his many advantages he had a problem that threw him into a personal crisis. Nicodemus, encountered a Rabbi that spoke with such authority he began to doubt himself\u2014he had an identity crisis that demanded answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting between himself and Jesus was not a casual meeting, this was a man desperate to know the truth. His question to Jesus: \u201chow can someone be born again when they are old?\u201d reflects his perplexity and ours when we encounter the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The truth can utterly destabilise us. The writer Aldous Huxley said: \u201cFacts do not cease to exist because we ignore them.\u201d And so it is with the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you thinking what that truth might be? The Apostle John distilled it in three words (three words we need to daily remind ourselves of): <em>God is love<\/em>. And He deeply loves you. God feels your pain. God hurts when you hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Nicodemus you have questions and you need answers. Be assured God will answer you with the truth, because God knows that healing can only begin when we are able to face the truth. Yes, the truth may hurt, it might turn your world upside down, but the truth matters and you matter to God\u2014far more than you can ever imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SET ME FREE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John 8:32<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cand you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.\u201d<\/em> (ESV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I love animals but I dislike zoos. I cannot accept that animals who were made to roam vast tracts of land are confined to cages, although I appreciate the important role that some zoos play in animal conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you feel caged in by life? Are you imprisoned by anger or self-pity? Is there a voice saying &#8220;God is to blame for your problems?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life problems are never easy, but it does not mean that because of them you are caged in. Life does not have to be this way: you can be overwhelmed by difficulties and still be happy, content, even joyful! Such a reality is only possible when we are transformed by the gospel truth. The Apostle Paul understood this truth. On the surface, his was a life of unfortunate events that included beatings, verbal abuse, death threats and eventual martyrdom. Would you begrudge him if he opted for an easier life? Yet, Paul spoke the truth about his situation in Philippians 4:12 \u201c<em>I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you feel like the walls are closing in on you?
